Minutes:

            The Licensing Manager presented the report, which sought the approval of the Licensing/Registration/Permit Fees under the Gambling Act 2005 for the next financial year.

The Licensing Manager Informed Members all locally set Licensing fees are reviewed regularly to recover reasonable costs of providing the service. The report recommended maintaining existing Gambling fees and advised Members of the fee structure established by the Government under the Licensing Act 2003(LA2003).

The Licensing Manager reminded the Members that a number of the fees are set centrally.  In particular the LA2003.  Members were asked to note these fees have not been increased since the LA2003 was implemented in 2005.  Members were informed that an informal survey had recently been conducted by the Home Office in relation to the processing costs of Local Authorities in a range of licences that fall within the LA2003.  Therefore, this could mean these particular fees may change in the future.

            Members were drawn to Appendix one of the report which set out the locally set fees.  The Licensing Manager informed the Members that following a recent review exercise in respect of the Gambling Act 2005(GA2005) fees, it was advocated that the gambling fees set locally should remain unchanged at this time., Members were advised that as part of the review exercise, there was a consultation with Premises Licence Holders in relation to the fee arrangements for the forthcoming year.  Members noted that there had been no responses received.

            The Licensing and Gambling Committee thanked the Licensing Manger for the report.

Following consideration of the report it was moved and seconded that the recommendations be approved. By way of Microsoft Forms this was agreed unanimously.

RESOLVED that;

1.    The level of fees proposed under the Gambling Act 2005 for 2023/2024 as outlined in Appendix 1 and for Temporary Use Notices in Appendix 2 be approved.

2.    The level of fees charged in connection with the Licensing Act 2003 as set out in Appendix 4 and for the majority of Gambling Permits and associated charges in Appendix 2 be noted.

The Chair thanked everyone in attendance and the meeting closed at 2.46pm
