APPLICATION FOR HACKNEY CARRIAGE/PRIVATE HIRE VEHICLE LICENCE PDF 63 KB Minutes: The Taxi and General Sub Committee, by a majority decision (and in noting there was 1 against) RESOLVED that for the reasons outlined at the meeting and to
the driver when present, and following inspection of the vehicle, application
no. 1 of Caerphilly for a hackney carriage vehicle licence, be refused. The Sub
Committee refused the application on the grounds that the vehicle’s window
tinting level did not comply with the Council’s policy and that the applicant
did not provide sufficient justification for the Sub Committee to depart from
the policy, which is in place to protect the public. The applicant was informed of his right of appeal
in that he had 21 days following receipt of the written decision notice to
appeal to the local Magistrates Court. |

APPLICATION FOR HACKNEY CARRIAGE/PRIVATE HIRE VEHICLE DRIVER'S LICENCE Minutes: The Taxi and General
Sub Committee unanimously RESOLVED that for the reasons outlined at the meeting
and to the applicant when present, application no. 2 of Cwmfelinfach for a
hackney carriage/private hire vehicle driver’s licence, be granted for a period
of 3 years, subject to a satisfactory medical certificate and letter of warning
as to his future conduct for a
period of 12 months being sent. The Sub Committee felt
that the applicant was a fit and proper person, despite his previous
conviction, and were of the view that the individual was now rehabilitated as
the offence occurred more than 3 years ago. |

HACKNEY CARRIAGE/PRIVATE HIRE VEHICLE DRIVER'S LICENCE Minutes: The Taxi and General
Sub Committee unanimously RESOLVED that for the reasons outlined at the meeting
and to the driver’s representative present, the hackney carriage/private hire
vehicle driver’s licence held by applicant no. 3 of Blackwood be revoked. The Sub Committee were
of the view that the individual was no longer a fit and proper person to hold
such a licence, having regard to the convictions recorded against them during
the period of licence. The Sub Committee
felt that there were no grounds presented, in light of the recent convictions,
which convinced them that the individual was a fit and proper person, and
therefore his licence was revoked. The
representative was informed of the right of appeal within 21 days following
receipt of the written decision notice to appeal to the local Magistrates Court. |
